Post Doctoral Fellowship in Diabetology
Affiliated to THE TAMIL NADU DR. M.G.R MEDICAL UNIVERSITY

About the course

The course will enable physicians to brush up on the basics of diabetes, learn the nuances of diabetes care and remain up to date with the latest advance in Diabetology. Towards this end, DMDEA has introduced the Post Doctoral Fellowship in Diabetology, a one year Clinical Fellowship programme affiliated to the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University.

During the course the candidates will be trained in different aspects of the inpatient and outpatient care of diabetes. They will also be exposed to the management of various diabetes complications through postings in the diabetic eye unit, diabetic heart unit, foot clinic and intensive care.  They will also have the opportunity to obtain a flavor of research in diabetes. At the end of the Course the candidate will be fully competent to deal with any type of diabetes patient as well as with diabetes complications of any degree of severity.

 

Course Duration

The Post Doctoral Fellowship in Diabetology is a one year course. 

Eligibility

A pass in MD in General Medicine (from any recognized university in India) or a DNB in General Medicine (awarded by National Board of Examination, New Delhi)

Age Limit

Upper Age Limit: 35 years.

Fellowship in Diabetology

About the course

A well structured diabetes course, Fellowship in Diabetology course (F.Diab) designed to equip the trainee to prevent the onset of disease by creating awareness through continuous medical education, to increase the life span of Diabetic subjects by offering proper treatment methodologies and regular check-ups and to reduce the incidence of complications.



Course Duration

The Centre offers two year full time course “Fellowship in Diabetology”

Eligibility

A pass in MBBS degree (obtained from any recognized University in India). Two years clinical experience may be preferred.

Age Limit

Upper Age Limit: 30 years.

Fellowship in Eye Disorder of Diabetes

About the course

This is an intensive course aimed at specialisation in diagnosis, screening and management of eye diseases in diabetes. It is based on theoretical, case study and clinical approach designed to maximize the quality and efficiency of diabetic eye care and prevent blindness in diabetes. The course aims at imparting knowledge about detailed assessment of retina, diagnosis, pathogenesis and management of diabetic retinopathy. Training will also be given in glaucoma and neuro-ophthalmology evaluation in diabetic subjects. Hands on training are imparted on specialised investigations such as digital colour photography, FFA, OCT, fields. Training is given in the use of laser in treatment of diabetic retinopathy.

 Course Duration

The duration of the course is one year.

Eligibility

A pass in MBBS degree (obtained from any recognized University in India) and Diploma in Opthalmology (D.O)/ M.S in Ophthalmology. Candidates with prior clinical experience will be given preference.
